ORGANIZATIONAL OVERVIEW:
The number of small businesses operating and jobs created within a community is a key component of the community’s economic strength and viability, and an indicator of the economic vitality of the neighborhood and its residents. From a strong personal desire to help improve the economic viability of low-income communities and residents residing in them, G.R.O.W. was established by Jacqueline and Julius Reason 12 years ago as a small, community-based, 501c3 organization with a mission to use business education as a means for developing and sparking entrepreneurial spirit in community residents of all ages. Our overall goal is to help the chronically unemployed become self-reliant and decrease their dependency on outside employers to provide meaningful opportunities to work and earn a living that support a family.
Since opening in March 2000, G.R.O.W. has been awarded government contracts, private contracts, and generated service-based revenue to support and enhance our training program. We coordinate and deliver training and training-related services through a network of community and faith-based organizations to provide access to those that desire to take a more active role in helping their client/members become self-reliant.
Professional consulting services are available to assist boards, directors, and program managers in their efforts to develop, design, plan, implement, manage, and/or identify/generate funding for internal programs.
Training
G.R.O.W. is committed to providing training that develop advanced level skills in the areas of business education, business management, and entrepreneurship to prepare individuals to re-enter the workforce through self-employment. Our "Katering for Kids" training enterprise was designed and implemented to provide a hands-on teaching environment that support our educational classes and training workshops.
Child and Youth Services In 2006, G.R.O.W. expanded its programs to include the provision of quality early childhood, youth, and teen programs that kept them safe and engaged in positive activities all year. As programs are re-implemented, children of eligible families will be enrolled.
